Spring Birding at Branch Brook Park

Have you ever awoken to the song of a bird and wondered what bird could possibly sing so beautifully?  This fun and dynamic talk will identify which songs are associated with a particular song bird.  The program will be divided between in-class time and study in the field.  First, we’ll listen to recordings to demonstrate which song is associated with a given bird, and learn about their behavior and habitat.   Then, we’ll go outside to see what we can identify, so please wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly. We will also collect data on the different species found in the park to compare over a year by year basis.  Robert can also recommend good birding apps for participants with iOS or Android phones.

Instructor:  Robert Andreucci is an ISA Certified Arborist and a New Jersey Certified Tree Expert with deep interest and knowledge of our local songbirds.  He attended The State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse University, and Desales University where he obtained a degree in Forest Biology and a Master’s Degree Science Education.  Robert teaches environmental science, biology and chemistry at Liberty High School and frequently gives talks and lectures on a variety of environmental topics throughout the area, including Temple University and Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.

These event are free of charge.  Families welcome.  Participants should make sure they have enough drinking water and wear appropriate clothing and closed shoes.   Please reserve a place at least 24 hours in advance at careofthepark@branchbrookpark.org
